Village Hall - Update
Date: 20/9/2011Village Hall Update
Since the last N&Vs appeared, we have made progress, as follows:
- The cellar door has been hung (thanks to Alan Carlisle).
- Most of the rubbish around the south side of the Village Hall has been cleared (thanks for help from Alan Grindey, George Riley, Sheila Gardiner & Mick Parsons).
- The Hall has been open on 4 Saturdays so far, and sales of donated items together with donations have added £200 to the Restoration Fund (thanks to all who have donated and helped – more welcome!). Visitors have been impressed by the Village Hall and the Historical Displays, and it is planned to continue Saturday opening when the Hall is not otherwise booked.
- The Village Hall Management Committee has agreed to fund a new system for providing hot water in the Kitchen and Lavatories, and the necessary plumbing and electrical work will be carried out on 6th October. This will be much more cost-effective than the present system, and free-up space for rationalising storage.
- Information is being gathered for the content of a comprehensive website for the Village Hall. Anyone with information about the history of the Village Hall please contact Terry Bennett (Tel 687096, terry.bennett.101@gmail.com).
The draft plan for the Restoration & Development of the Village Hall will be on display during the Saturday Open Days, so please come along to consult and comment.
