A successful Awards 4 All application through Hartington Primary School enabled the opportunity to establish HYPAC- a partnership with Derby County Football Club (DCFC) - Sport in the Community programme. The objective of HYPAC is to meet the needs of young people (8+years) in the rural areas of Hartington and Biggin; using local facilities, supported by local people to ensure it is sustainable and effective.

From a small 6 week pilot run by DCFC during the summer holidays 3 years ago- the partnership has grown- supporting a junior section of 25 children (8-12yrs) and 10 members of the senior group (13-16). A core group of young leaders all from the 2 villages (3 female and 5 male) who have qualified during this time –Sport leaders Level 1 and 2 as well as the FA Football Coaches award are currently working to complete their level 3. DCFC-Community Coaches have delivered the sessions along with Adventurous Activity Team from Chesterfield since its inception and progressively the young leaders are taking more responsibility and being mentored and supported by DCFC- Community Coaches

Hartington Young Peoples Activity Club

The HYPAC Steering group, with its own constitution and bank account, is made up of key members of the Village Community groups with essential support and guidance from Rob Wilkes and the Derbyshire Dales Sports Development Unit (DDSDU) and Katy Stubbs from Village Games as well as the Community Police.

We use the school playground and Village Hall where sports such as Football, Cricket, Netball, Tag Rugby, Basketball Archery, Team Building games GMX- Karting and Multi skills are delivered as well as going off site to local activity areas- for climbing, scrambling and canoeing.

The Children and Parents of Hartington and Biggin very much appreciate the help and support that they have received over the past 3 years from DCFC and look forward to many more years of Partnership working
