Hartington History

Hartington has a long illustrious history. First mentioned in the Doomsday book as Hortedun, Hartington became an important trading centre and was granted a market charter in 1203. Weekly markets and an annual fair were held for almost 700 years but went into decline around the turn of the 20th century.
