Hartington Stay & Play

Hartington Stay & Play is run by local mums and meets every Thursday afternoon term times (1.30-3pm) in the main school hall at Hartington, where free play is mixed with craft activities. There is a sensory room for use by small babies and their carers, and the group also use the outdoor playground in good weather. Beth Freeman from Wirksworth Children’s Centre attends once a month to provide a “messy play” and Jane Goldthorpe, the local Health Visitor, regularly visits to weigh babies and provide support. The hall is big enough to accommodate the use of ride on toys and baby walkers. Children up to school age are welcome to pop along with an adult and join in, as are expectant mums. Juice and drinks are provided for all and costs £1 for walking tots and just 50p for babies. (First visit is free of charge).
