History of Plans
In September 2010 Developer Cathelco of Chesterfield, stunned the village by announcing proposals to build between 42 and 60 houses on the site of the old cheese Dairy and on adjoining agricultural land.
A stormy village meeting, chaired by local MP Patrick McLaughlin, rejected plans and the Peak Park therefore set up a Liaison Group including village groups and the developer to try and seek a compromise.
As part of this villagers were asked their views in confidence and a staggering 75% returned questionnaires which firmly rejected a development of this size.
However at the end of a year’s meetings villagers were presented with plans almost identical to those already rejected. This was followed within weeks by a planning application giving opponents just 28 days to respond.
If we are to have these plans rejected as many people as possible must contact the Peak Park to record their opposition.
